How long have you been practicing Yoga? 13 years

Describe your teaching style: I teach just the way I like to practice – energizing, powerful, sweaty, playful and lots of FUN!  You can say that I’m not the traditional Yoga teacher as I make sure that you smile during class, all while working hard.

What’s your favorite thing about teaching Yoga? I love being able to share my Aloha, my energy and positivity, and my love of the practice to the students. I love witnessing my students’ own Yoga journey and being a part of it.  Most of all, I love creating a community of Yogis who most of the time become friends.

Tell us about your Ohana (family): I have been married to my smart and great looking, video game loving man, Josh, for 17 years.  Fun fact – I was traveling the world with the University of the Philippines Concert Chorus in 2000 when I met Josh in Houston.  To make the long story short, he followed me as my choir proceeded to our travels and a year later we got married.  Talk to me for the full story. As my Japanese little sister, Taylor, from Hawaii said, I married my stalker.

My mom turned 80 this year. She is my model of faith and is my tree as she has supported me and nurtured me to who I am today.  The goal is to move to Bridgeland one day (hopefuly sooner than later) so I can get a one-story house so my mom can visit me!

Josiah and Ria are my brother and sister in law who live in San Antonio.  They have a four-legged son named Wicket.  We don't see them enough.  Maybe they'll move back to Houston so we can build Legos and do movie marathons again soon.

I have 5 bestfriends in this world who are the sisters I chose in this life. They’re all in the Philippines.  I traveled the world with them for 7 months. Another fun fact – we have been texting daily since 2009 when the 6 of us finally all had iphones.

This is my immediate family, but for me OHANA (family) is the people we choose to spend our lives with, people we share values with, people we love to hang out with, among other things.  At the end of the day it doesn’t matter if we are related by blood becase at the end of the day, we are all children of God, we are one.

Shout out to my OHANA – Houston Filipino Young Professionals, Houston Cecilia Chamber Choir, my BIG SUP/ BIG Power Yoga family, University of the Philippines Alumni Association in Hawaii, Karol’s Karolers, my Yoga/Acro Yoga Hawaii ohana, my Banana Republic crew #OneCrewOneCanoe, University of the Philippines Concert Chorus.

Favorite place you’ve traveled to? – I don’t necessarily have 1 favorite place. I love all the islands of Hawaii, especially the Big Island. I really enjoyed Iceland and I want to go back as we only got a teaser of the Aurora Borealis. Scotland holds a special place in my heart.

What’s your favorite nature spot? Ocean and mountains. Can’t just pick one.

Interests outside Yoga: Singing and volunteering! Oh and FOOD.  I’ve always said, I workout (in my case do TONS of Yoga) so I can eat.

How do you define living your life to the fullest everyday? It’s about being able to say at the end of the day that I have lived my life and maximized my day to the best I can.  It’s about living a life of no regrets. To quote one of the songs from one of my favorite musicals of all time, RENT, “Forget regret or life is yours to miss. No other road, no other way, NO DAY BUT TODAY”.

Your favorite quote / bible verse: She is clothed with strength and dignity and she laughs without fear of the future – Proverbs 31:25 and CARPE DIEM!
